Director of Housekeeping Functions:
- Ensure that excellent customer service is a hallmark of the Housekeeping and Laundry Department.
- Establish administrative rules and regulations, policies and procedures for the department.
- Ensure a smooth, efficient, and economic operation in the Housekeeping and Laundry areas.
- Isolate and analyze areas in need of improvement and encourage a climate of problem solving and action.
- Specify and purchase supplies.
- Support a highly motivated and trained staff that continually strives for excellence in service and cleanliness.
- Identify ways of improving the effectiveness of service to guests through the All Together Get Togethers
- Constantly monitor and control all labor cost for Housekeeping and Laundry areas, achieving targeted payroll and productivity.
- Encourage and maintain open and clear communication, rapport and cooperation with all internal departments to foster best possible service to all guests.
- Monitor guest complaints and take corrective action when necessary.
- Maintain and administer monthly linen inventories; responsible for action plans to address shrinkage.
- Assist with budget process as required by the Director of Operations.
- Develop master cleaning schedules and administer accordingly.
- Develop ongoing updated Houseperson checklists for AM and PM shifts
- Monitor all Housekeeping inventories to ensure adequate supplies are always available; analyze use of consumable items.
- Maintain accurate payroll information for the Housekeeping and Laundry areas.
- Ensure that all Systems and Controls, Loss Prevention, and Energy Conservation guidelines are implemented throughout the department.
- Act as coach and teacher and positive role model for associates and colleagues.
- Attend hotel operational meetings, rooms departmental meetings, and associate-related events.
- Recommend to the Director of Operations special activities, promotions or procedures to meet competition, increase business or improve services.
- Actively consolidate room inventory with Reservations Supervisor and Director of Front Office Operations to maximize Housekeeping efficiencies and minimize expenses.
- Participate in formulating strategy to best service large groups effectively.
- Attend inter-departmental daily morning huddle.
Director of Housekeeping Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED, BS preferred but not required
- Inspiring Coach and Mentor
- Effective Communicator and Listener
