We are looking for a Director of Utility Operations for an Ivy League, higher education facility in the Northeast part of the country. Director of Utility Operations Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in utility operations; familiar with steam, hot water, chilled water, and electrical distribution and production systems including high pressure boilers, chillers, and heat pumps
  • BA or BS in engineering, facility management, construction management, business administration, architecture, or related field
  • Experience in fiscal management and personnel management
  • Ability to operate utility systems under normal and emergency operation

Director of Utility Operations Responsibilities:

  • Leading Utility Operations
    • Fosters an atmosphere of collaboration within the team and with customers
    • Leads strategic efforts of process improvement and best practices
    • Plans and controls both responsive and proactive maintenance
    • Oversees safe conditions on a daily basis
    • Incorporates sustainability and energy efficiency principles into everyday practices
    • Acts as one of several 'on call' officers for emergencies after hours
  • Staff and Fiscal Management
    • Oversees 15-20 staff members, leading with collaboration, inclusivity, and respect
    • Guides and develops those on the team
    • Works alongside facility leadership to ensure parallel goals
    • Oversees utility operations budget
  • Culture and Employee Belonging
    • Help to make the department a desired place to work where people feel welcomed, heard, and accepted
    • Demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusion through interaction, training, and leadership
