A leading processor and distributor of scrap metals and fibers on the East Coast who collect, process, and sell a wide variety of metals and fibers is looking for an experienced and proficient Controller to join our team.
In this role, you will manage all financial operations of the company, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and deliver precise and timely financial reports. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in corporate and public accounting, along with exceptional analytical and leadership abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily operations of the accounting department
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness in managing accounts payable and receivable functions
- Prepare financial statements, reports, and forecasts following GAAP guidelines
- Conduct account reconciliations and analyses to maintain accurate financial data
- Establish and enforce internal controls to protect company assets
- Oversee and coordinate the annual audit process
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements
- Work with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives
- Offer guidance and mentorship to accounting staff
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate accounting or public accounting
- Proficiency in using accounting software
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
