County Administrator Responsibilities Include:

  • Leadership and Management: Lead a welcoming and inclusive environment for county employees and residents. Oversee daily operations of county departments and agencies.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to improve county services and infrastructure.
  • Budget Management: Prepare and manage the county’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and communication with all departments regarding budget status.
  • Policy Development: Work with the County Legislature to develop policies that benefit the community and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with the community, fostering relationships with residents, businesses, and other stakeholders to address their needs and concerns.
  • Performance Analysis: Analyze the performance of county programs and services, making recommendations for improvement.
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts with service providers and partners to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.

County Administrator Qualifications Include:

  • Leadership Skills: A charismatic leader who loves engaging with people and can be the "face" of the county.
  • Team Building: Strong desire to lead a team of professionals and foster a culture of positivity and collaboration.
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in public administration, government management, or a similar leadership role.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong financial management skills with experience in budgeting and fiscal oversight.
  • Education: Master's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse range of individuals and groups.
