Non-Ferrous Manager/Trader

Position Overview: The Nonferrous Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of non-ferrous material sales and purchasing, both domestically and internationally. This role involves direct management of non-ferrous material buying and selling, setting purchase prices for feeder yards, and determining optimal sales channels. The Nonferrous Manager will work closely with buyers and operations managers to ensure smooth operations, accurate pricing, and effective sales strategies.

Key Responsibilities for Non-Ferrous Manager/Trader

  • Sales and Purchasing:
    • Manage the buying and selling of all non-ferrous materials processed within the company.
    • Establish and adjust purchase prices for non-ferrous materials across six feeder yard locations.
    • Make decisions on whether to sell materials domestically or internationally based on market conditions.
  • Team Management:
    • Oversee two buyers, providing direction on pricing and sales strategies.
    • Manage one Operations Manager, ensuring effective coordination between buying, processing, and shipping operations.
  • Operational Oversight:
    • Work closely with the Operations Manager to oversee shipping, processing, and logistical operations.
    • Ensure efficient coordination between buying, processing, and shipping to maximize profitability.
  • Market Strategy:
    • Maintain and expand domestic and international contacts for buying and selling non-ferrous materials.
    • Make strategic decisions on material sales, including where and when to ship materials, optimizing for market conditions.
  • Financial Management:
    • Oversee profit and loss (P&L) for non-ferrous operations, ensuring targets are met or exceeded.
    • Develop pricing strategies that maximize profitability while maintaining competitive market positioning.
  • Industry Knowledge:
    • Stay informed about market trends, pricing fluctuations, and industry developments to make informed buying and selling decisions.
    • Utilize deep knowledge of the non-ferrous market to guide purchasing and sales strategies effectively.

Qualifications for Non Ferrous Manager/Trader:

  • Proven experience in non-ferrous material buying and selling, with a strong understanding of both domestic and international markets.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience overseeing buyers and operations managers.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a solid track record of achieving profitable sales.
  • Ability to develop and implement pricing strategies for multiple locations.
  • Familiarity with logistics, shipping operations, and market trends in the non-ferrous industry.
  • Experience with P&L management and a strong focus on profitability.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
