We are searching for an experienced Head of Licensing!

As the Head of Licensing, you will be responsible for ensuring that the company complies with all regulatory requirements related to licensing within the fuel industry. You will oversee the licensing process, maintain compliance with regulatory bodies, and ensure that all licenses and permits are up-to-date. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

Head of Licensing Responsibilities:

  • Manage and Oversee the Licensing Process: Oversee the entire licensing process, including applications, renewals, amendments, and maintaining up-to-date records of all licenses and permits for our convenience stores and gas stations.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure that all locations operate with valid and up-to-date licenses and permits, including business licenses, liquor licenses, tobacco permits, and environmental permits. Conduct internal audits and reviews to assess compliance with licensing regulations.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact with local, state, and federal regulatory authorities, developing and maintaining relationships to ensure a smooth licensing process and addressing any compliance issues or concerns.
  • License and Permit Renewal: Monitor expiration dates and manage the renewal process for all necessary licenses and permits, ensuring no lapses occur that could disrupt business operations.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all licenses, permits, and regulatory correspondence. Prepare and submit reports to internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies as required. Prepare reports and presentations on licensing compliance for senior management and regulatory authorities.
  • Legislative Updates: Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations related to convenience stores and gas stations, and implement necessary changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Coordinate with Legal and Regulatory Affairs: Work closely with legal and regulatory affairs teams to interpret and implement licensing requirements.
  • Policy Development: Develop and implement policies and procedures to streamline the licensing process and enhance compliance.
  • Training and Education: Provide training and guidance to employees, including store managers and other staff, on licensing requirements and compliance best practices.
  • Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any issues related to licensing and permits promptly and efficiently, minimizing any impact on business operations.

Head of Licensing Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 8-10 years of experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or a similar role within the gas station/convenience stores industry.
  • Proven experience managing licensing processes and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of licensing regulations and procedures within the fuel industry.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations related to the fuel industry.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to effectively manage a team.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
