Sales Manager Responsibilities:

  • Book definite and tentative group business to surpass budgeted group room revenues and personal booking targets.
  • Engage in daily prospecting for new business to achieve weekly outbound activity objectives.
  • Conduct site inspections at the home property at least twice monthly, accompanying customers or attending designated team meetings and training sessions.
  • Undertake local travel for outside sales visits and occasionally travel beyond the local area for sales calls, client entertainment, trade shows, and training events.
  • Attend primary industry functions every month.
  • Follow up with clients through correspondence regarding sales activities.
  • Organize and execute familiarization trips or client entertainment events locally and nationally according to the Marketing Plan or as directed by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
  • Review weekly activity reports for the Director of Sales & Marketing and complete pre/post sales call reports weekly.
  • Identify and secure group business for the property and other Benchmark hotel and resort locations through a cross-sell program.
  • Populate sales system with group bookings following established guidelines.
  • Generate contracts and negotiate terms until the client signs the agreement.
  • Provide comprehensive booking details to the operations team through a structured turnover process.
  • Maintain contact with confirmed clients throughout the planning process and during on-site events to foster repeat business.
  • Could you help the Director of Sales & Marketing with special projects as needed?
  • Demonstrate professional and ethical conduct in all interactions with clients and colleagues.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, supporting others in their goals and contributing ideas.
  • Maintain regular office hours aligned with sales office standards; remote work must be conducted in a professional, secure, and distraction-free environment.
  • Fulfill other assigned tasks and duties as required, which may involve varied hours, including holidays and weekends.
  • Interface positively with and assist other departments as necessary.
  • Responsively address any reasonable tasks assigned by the Director and/or Senior Leadership and/or Executive Team.

Sale Manager Qualifications:

  • Exceptional customer service skills and a passion for providing excellent experiences.
  • Bachelors degree.
  • Chicago area residency.
  • A minimum of three years in hotel sales is required.
  • Familiarity with Delphi, Amadeus Advance, Salesforce, and/or CVent.
  • Assertive, outgoing, and self-motivated individual with a pleasant personality.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English.
  • Strong interpersonal and sales-related skills.
