We are seeking a talented and experienced Distribution System Planning Engineer to join our client’s team. As a Distribution System Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of our electrical distribution networks to ensure the reliable and efficient delivery of electricity to our customers. You will play a key role in shaping the future of our distribution system as we strive to meet the evolving needs of our customers and integrate renewable energy sources into our network.

P&C Engineering Supervisor Salary and Benefits:

Distribution System Planning Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Design the layout and configuration of electrical distribution networks to meet current and future demand requirements.
  • Conduct load forecasting and capacity planning to optimize the sizing and placement of distribution equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, and capacitors.
  • Perform voltage regulation studies to maintain optimal voltage levels throughout the distribution system and ensure the quality of electricity supply.
  • Integrate renewable energy resources, such as solar and wind power, into the distribution system and manage their impact on system operations.
  • Analyze the reliability of the distribution system and identify opportunities for improvement to minimize the frequency and duration of power outages.
  • Develop contingency plans and procedures for emergency response and outage restoration.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including transmission engineers, utility planners, and regulatory agencies, to achieve common objectives.

Distribution System Planning Engineer Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in distribution system planning or related field.
  • Proficiency in power system analysis software, such as PSS/E, PSCAD, or ETAP.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to distribution system planning.
