Are you looking for a challenge? Our client is a medical device manufacturer who is seeking a Controls/Automation Engineer who can identify and drive improvements within the business through technology and process improvements. This individual will also ensure that engineering standards of analysis, validation, quality, cost, safety, timeliness and performance are observed.

Automation Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Identify improvement projects and then complete the investigation into the viability and priority of those projects with appropriate Production and R & D personnel.
  • Identify and set the quality standards of products from suppliers and external service providers to ensure appropriate quality standards are maintained
  • Assist other personnel involved in the development of new / improved manufacturing methods and tooling as an aid towards increased efficiency and productivity
  • Maintain records of project resources and costs for accurate budgetary tracking
  • Exhibit safe conscious behavior in and around the workplace
  • Promote a “Can it be better?” approach in relation to product and processes
  • Appropriately manage and report problems or non-conformances

 

Automation Engineer Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Electrical or Chemical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer license – preferred
  • 5+ years in process/automation controls engineering
  • Demonstrated evidence of electrical engineering knowledge within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience developing and maintaining PLC programs written in Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram, Sequential Function Chart, and Instruction List formats
  • PLC/HMI selection, configuration and programming; specifically Rockwell (Studio 5000), Siemens (TIA Portal), GE (Proficy), Automation Direct
  • Panel design and build utilizing electrical CAD
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols
  • Selection and integration of sensors, controllers, and other 3rd party equipment
