Bar Manager

Location: Buffalo, NY

Company Overview:

A vibrant and upscale gastropub, cocktail lounge known for delivering exceptional culinary experiences and innovative beverage offerings. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Bar Manager to lead our beverage program, focusing on craft cocktails, craft beer, and menu development.

Responsibilities:

  • Craft Cocktail Expertise:
    • Create and curate a diverse and inventive craft cocktail menu that aligns with current trends and customer preferences.
    • Train and mentor bar staff on the art of mixology, ensuring consistent and high-quality beverage preparation.
  • Craft Beer Knowledge:
    • Oversee the selection and rotation of craft beers on tap and in bottles, staying informed about emerging craft beer trends and breweries.
    • Collaborate with vendors and distributors to maintain an exceptional craft beer selection.
  • Menu Development:
    • Lead the development and enhancement of the beverage menu, ensuring it complements the overall culinary offerings.
    • Conduct regular tastings and gather feedback to refine and improve the beverage program continually.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Recruit, train, and motivate a skilled and customer-focused bar staff.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting effective communication and teamwork.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Implement efficient inventory control practices to minimize waste and maximize profitability.
    • Monitor stock levels, place orders, and manage vendor relationships.
  • Customer Engagement:
    • Interact with customers, gather feedback, and use insights to refine the beverage program.
    • Create and execute promotions and events to drive bar traffic and enhance the customer experience.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Bar Manager or similar role in a high-volume establishment.
  • In-depth knowledge of craft cocktails, craft beers, and spirits.
  • Demonstrated expertise in menu development and innovation.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Solid understanding of inventory management and cost control.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe) are a plus.
