Restaurant General Manager Requirements & Qualifications

Extensive upscale restaurant management experience required
Minimum 5+ years as a General Manager in an upscale, full-service, high-volume restaurant
Proven track record managing $10M+ in annual sales
Strong leadership presence with the ability to coach, develop, and inspire teams
Deep understanding of financials, cost controls, and operational systems
Demonstrated passion for polished service and premium food execution
Solutions-driven, accountable approach and strong ownership mentality

Restaurant General Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Lead all front-of-house operations, ensuring consistent luxury service and hospitality
Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing management and service team
Drive guest satisfaction, operational excellence, and team engagement
Oversee financial performance, including labor, food cost control, and budgeting
Build and maintain a culture of professionalism, accountability, and pride
Serve as a hands-on leader who sets the standard on the floor every shift
