Our client partners with educational agencies to provide quality education to children with visual impairments. Their critical services are in high need, and they are bringing on more highly dedicated Interveners and / or Paraprofessionals in the San Jose, Pleasanton, Fremont, and San Francisco Ca areas.
As an American Sign Language Deaf-Blind Intervener, you will play a vital role in connecting deaf-blind learners to the world. Acting as their eyes and ears, you will work closely with individual learners, interpreting the world to them and providing support aligned with their Individualized Education Program (IEP) or service plan. Collaborating with the visual impairment team, you will adapt communication techniques, including American Sign Language (ASL), to meet the unique needs of each learner.
Qualifications:
· **REQUIRED:** Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL).
· **Preferred:** Intervener Certification/Credential.
· Ability to use simultaneous communication (SIM-COM).
· Comfortable working in close physical proximity to tactile learners.
· Able to communicate information through touch, hearing, and vision.
· Experience with students with moderate to severe disabilities.
· Demonstrates emotional maturity, frustration tolerance, and stability.
· Flexibility in work assignments and willingness to learn new skills.
