Intervention Specialist Responsibilities
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that embraces diversity, promotes equity, and celebrates the strengths and experiences of each student
- Develop and implement strategies that support student behavior management, social-emotional development, and address the unique needs of all students while fostering a safe and respectful learning environment
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, specialists, and families to develop individualized intervention plans that address academic and behavioral needs
- Identify students requiring intervention support based on assessment, teacher referrals, and student performance data
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents or guardians, providing updates on student progress, addressing concerns, and fostering positive relationships
Intervention Specialist Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or related field.
- Intervention Specialist (K-12) Mild/Moderate or Intervention Specialist (PreK-3) Licensure Required
- Strong knowledge of educational principles, responsive teaching practices, and strategies for supporting diverse learners with the commitment and belief that all students CAN succeed regardless of their background or circumstances
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students develop strategies to overcome challenges
- Experience working as an Intervention Specialist or in a similar role in an elementary school setting – knowledge and experience with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) is a HUGE plus
